e-shelter receives the 2019 German Excellence Award in the Cloud Services category
Frankfurt, January 25th, 2019 - e-shelter, a leading data center provider in Europe and a subsidiary of NTT Communications, has received the 2019 German Excellence Award in the category of Cloud Services. The award is given annually by a jury of top-class representatives from business, media and science. The sponsor and jury member was Wolfgang Clement, former Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia. The jury was chaired by Heiner Bremer, a leading journalist and former politician.
e-shelter was awarded 1st prize for its Innovation Lab, which was opened in July 2017 at its main location in Frankfurt. e-shelter plans to develop additional Innovation Labs in Berlin, Vienna, Munich and Zurich. The e-shelter innovation lab currently brings together more than 110 technology providers, system integrators, consulting firms and 40 start-ups in specially equipped rooms in e-shelter data centers.
Within the e-shelter innovation lab, interested companies are able to test IT architectures cost-effectively and validate innovations faster. In addition to numerous hybrid cloud scenarios, e-shelter also designs IoT, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger use cases that contribute and support proof-of-concepts. With its range of partners, number of use cases, area-wide expansion and local distribution, the e-shelter innovation lab is unrivaled in the DACH region.
"We at e-shelter are very proud of this award, which recognizes our commitment to the German economy," said Toan Nguyen, Director Business Development & Cloud Platform at e-shelter. "The advantages of our Innovation Lab are obvious: flexibility, low up-front costs and shorter time-to-market. In our Innovation Labs, proof-of-concept preparation and setup only takes a few days or weeks, while in a conventional environment, it can often take months. This gives us the platform to push the first ideas for a real business strategy."
More than 70 use cases are currently available at the e-shelter innovation lab. In addition, more than 6 million euros have been invested in hardware, software and working hours. The e-shelter innovation labs, as they continue to expand and grow into a global network, also have connectivity to all major hyperscalers, which is critical to validate real hybrid cloud solutions.
